Description
Our natural hyssop hydrolate for aromatherapy originates from the species Hyssopus officinalis. In international practice, the product is designated as Hyssop natural hydrolate for aromatherapy. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family, and the plantations supplying the raw material are located in Bulgaria. The fresh aerial stalk together with the inflorescences is used for distillation, which determines the fullness of the extract. The product is obtained by steam distillation, and it is precisely this gentle processing that preserves the purity of the aroma. The aroma is of medium strength and combines a fresh, herbal, sweetish and resinous side. Since the extraction takes place with water vapor, the profile of the distillate remains compact and clean, and the characteristic herbal side is clearly perceptible. The color varies from complete colorlessness to a slight yellowish tint, and the restrained tone is due precisely to the aerial mass that yields the extract. The product is a clear liquid with a uniform surface. Cultivation is entirely natural, which is why the composition is limited to the substances of the herb itself, without preservatives and without colorants. The volatile fraction of the species accumulates in peltate glandular hairs on both surfaces of the leaves, which explains the density of the scent imprint. In addition, the raw material comes from the stalk of the plant. The hydrolate carries the character of the herb in a light aqueous form. The species is a subshrub distributed mainly in the temperate biome, while the harvested aerial part remains the main carrier of volatile substances in the resulting distillate. Pinocamphone, pinene, germacrene and elemol are described among the leading aromatic constituents of the plant, and they shape the resinous tint of the scent. Natural hyssop hydrolate remains close to the original herb and retains a recognizable character.
